KOA Super Yelper
This call is crafted from old growth Curly Koa milled from the A. M. Ranch Reforestation Project one of Hawaii's prime native Koa forests. Ultra Prime stock from one of the oldest trees harvested on the ranch. Golden amber color, clear grain, superlative curly figure and high density define the highest grade of Koa available exclusively from the most pristine old growth trees. Hawaiian Koa is one of the rarest and most expensive woods available. Of the amount of available stock less than 10% has the curly figure and less than 2% of that is thought to have this the highest grade of Koa available.

Super Yelper Civil War Commemorative

Well before the Civil War, the Shenandoah Valley was known for its abundance of family farms, which produced huge amounts of wheat, corn and livestock. By 1864, the Union realized that much of the strength of the Confederate South was due to the support provided by the plentiful livestock and crop resources of the Shenandoah Valley. Plans were developed by Grant, in orders given on August 26, 1864, to Major General Philip H. Sheridan to destroy the crops, damage the railroads and burn the barns and leave the Shenandoah Valley a barren waste. These military exercises have been referred to as “The Burning” as Sheridan’s forces went through the Shenandoah Valley systematically burning mills, barns, and public buildings, destroying or carrying away food for animals, crops and livestock.
Few barns were spared as it has been recorded Sheridan reported to Grant that his men had destroyed 630 barns. At least one known barn survived “The Burning.” To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, we present this scratch box call made from a walnut beam that came from this barn. Each call is hand painted with a laser engraved description of its history and is hand signed.
May it appropriately convey a very humble attempt to honor and remember the sacrifice made on behalf of the confederate soldiers and the entire agricultural community which had been devastated by the burnings of the Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War.
